Millard Star Arsenal Classic - ENSA/NSL U11 to U19
What is Classic? Classic is the name of Millard Star Soccer Association’s (MSSA) recreational group for players U11 through U19, although U9 and U10 teams may join Classic by special request. The name Classic represents MSSA’s commitment to the development of our rec teams and coaches.
Where do Classic teams play and against whom? Classic teams are normally placed in the Eastern Nebraska Soccer Association leagues (ENSA) against other MSSA teams and teams of the same age and gender from about 30 other clubs in Omaha, Council Bluffs, Elkhorn, Valley, Fremont, Blair, Glenwood, Plattsmouth, and about a 40 mile surrounding radius. Each league is usually made up of 6-8 teams of similar skill levels. By special request of a team, teams may play in the Nebraska Soccer League (NSL), which includes teams from Columbus, Lincoln, York, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, and other areas around Nebraska. As this league requires a lot more travel and dedication, we will not place a team in NSL unless the team has requested to play there.
Does a player have to try out to be placed on a Classic team? No, players will be placed on teams through open enrollment or team registration. Players will be placed on teams that have openings and we at MSSA will do our best to keep teams together over the years.
What about team size? On January 19, 2003, the Nebraska State Soccer Association (NSSA) formally adopted Small-sided games (SSG). In spring 2004, US Youth Soccer introduced standard rules and regulations, which were adopted by the NSSA on April 18, 2004.
The National Rules state no more than twice the number of players on the field may be rostered to any particular team. For U11/U12 (8v8) that means the maximum roster size is sixteen players.
The U13 through U19’s may roster 18 players for the 11V11 game, although an average team carries about 16, and a roster size of 14 maximum is recommended for the U15-19 small sided 7V7 teams.
U11/U12 play 8 v 8, U9/U10 play 6 v 6, U7/U8 play 5 v 5 and U5/U6 play 3 v 3.
