Rules and guidelines for U9 & U10

 

Ages:                U9 & U10 Girls & Boys

U9:                   6v6     (5 plus Keeper)

U10:                 6v6     (5 plus Keeper)

Roster size:       12 max, we recommend 10

Game:               6v6 (5 field plus goalkeeper) Two 25 minute halves

Field Size:         varies

Ball size:           # 4

Referee:            Assigned by leagues

No scores or standings are kept at these age groups.

Shin guards must be worn at all games or practices.

American Cup is an option for these ages in the spring.

No piercings, hats or jewelry.  Eyeglasses must be secured by appropriate eyeglass band. 

Practices are not mandatory at this age but are allowed if parents and coach agree.

Fair and equitable playing time is enforced in this program.

Coaching courses are available: Youth Module or E license is hosted by M.S.S.A. and administered by N.S.S.A.

Coaches are to use good ethics when weather conditions apply. No  practices below 32 degrees or above 96 degrees. Coaches are advised to cancel practice if there is a heat advisory.

Practice once or twice per week not to exceed 60 minutes.  Practices should not be held 48 hrs prior to or after a match.

 

 No slide tackling will be allowed throughout this program.

 

Clubs Objective for U9 &10 Coaches

·        Dribbling with either foot.

·        Receiving with Head, Chest, Thigh, and Feet

·        Passing to team mates

·        Team Understanding

·        Basic team shape (offensive and defensive)

·        Basic goalkeeper training

·        Skill moves and understanding where to use on the field.

·        Players completing simple tasks (passing and receiving)

·        Small group activities to promote problem solving

 

 

Club Goals

 

It is the club’s goal to provide a healthy teaching environment where players gain knowledge in the four components of the game  - Tactical, Technical, Psychological and Fitness.  This will prepare players for the E.N S.A. U11 and older program or the Arsenal program if desired.  Coaches must use good ethical and moral standards at all times.
